Another hospital stay

Gabriel was doing really well all week, and then we noticed that his breathing seemed odd. We took him in to the doctor and they decided to admit him to the hospital to monitor him through the night. Basically what is happening is close to apnea, but not really. With apnea, babies stop breathing for 20 seconds and then start again. Gabe is doing that, but he only stops breathing for about 5 or 6 seconds at a time, then takes some deep breaths. The doctor calls it "rapid breathing". So after spending the day and all night last night back at the hospital we at least feel better to know that its ok. And, he is gaining weight and growing. He is 18 1/2 inches long now, and yesterday weighed 4lbs 15 oz. Yay!! I bet tonight or tommorrow by the latest he will be over 5 lbs!!! Way to Grow!

His next appt. is this friday for his eye exam. A lot of preemies have eye problems, so we are crossing our fingers that his eyes will be growing correctly. Now if he could just start nursing I would be a really happy camper. The pump and my breasts are not liking each other at the moment. Just like with Ethan I am getting lots of milk, but man...it hurts! Knowing how easy it was with Isabella to just nurse her when hungry, I really, really hope he will learn to nurse within the next few months.
