(No pictures, our camera battery died and we were ding dongs and forgot to plug it in)
We woke up late Friday, knowing we didn't have to rush to get out the door this day. We were headed to Turtle Bay Exploration Park, and then home. I wasn't really sure what I was expecting from Turtle Bay, but essentially it is one huge nature center. Like when you go to the nature center at the local park, only imagine that on steroids....you get the picture. The first thing we did was take in the animal show. It was fun, educational, and hot...Isabella wanted to sit close to the stage, so I sat with her while the smart ones sat a few rows up in the shade. Oh well, a little sweat trickling down my back never killed me. Oh...that was probably too much info, huh. After the animal show we walked over the bridge to the museum where they have a small aquarium, nature area, history exhibits, and GROSSOLOGY!!! Ever want to know everything there is to know about bodily fluids? This is for you then. I made burps, fart, sneezes and snot. I smelled farts, stinky breath, stinky shoes and armpits (and they weren't my own). I had a blast, and I think the kids did too. I don't know how long it's there, I think they might change the feature every season.
After we were done with the museum, we went back to the Paul Bunyan Forest and fed the Lorikeets. That was perhaps the most fun I have ever had! These birds only drink nectar, and for one dollar you can buy a small container and feed them from your hand. I really, really wish we had the camera because one decided Ethans head was a fun place to land and he set up camp almost the entire time we were in there. Thankfully he didn't feel the urge to go, like another one did on a lady who was in there with us...can we all say eww?
We left for lunch, then headed back to the Botanical Gardens for a quick walk and to dip our feet in the Sacramento river. Soon after we headed back down the highway to Chico, where we had a very nice time visiting Johns mom, my sister, and my niece for dinner.
