I love reading to the kids, but sometimes it's hard to remember which books we've read. The best way is a visual, and a little highlight to say whether or not we loved them. Here comes this weeks reading roundup.
The Man Who Kept His Heart In A Bucket, by Sonia Levitin. We all enjoyed this book.
The Forest of Dreams, by Rosemary Wells. This was a beautiful story, somewhat like a poem. I felt it was more appropriate for Gabriel but we all enjoyed it.
Through Grandpas's Eyes, by Patricia Maclachlan. We loved this book about a young boy learning to "see" the way his blind grandfather does. Very beautifully written, and it reminds us to explore our other senses and not just rely on our sight.
Sophies Masterpiece, by Eileen Spinelli. This was by far my favorite. What a beautiful story about generosity and ultimate sacrifice. The pictures are visually beautiful, and the words are as well. I got emotional by the ending every time I read it.
Dr. Suess...what can I say except loved them of course!
Little Puff, by Margaret Hillert. Gabriel grabbed this on our way out of the library, and I thought the cover looked cute. Well, it does have a pretty cover...but unfortunately that was all I liked about this book. I guess my expectations were too high since I have been reading very well written books to the kids lately. I do not recommend this unless you just want to look at the cute pictures.
Isabella reads like a maniac still, I swear I sometimes find her reading the childrens dictionary just for fun. Other than the books listed, she also read her new NGA kids magazine (thank you Auntie, we LOVE it!) and a few other NGA kids from the library along with some various pet care books. Ethan is still reading book five of Harry Potter. I expect him to be finished by the end of the week since we are starting heavy with school again. I am reading The Language of God, along with the lighter reading of The Dresden Files series.
