Last weeks book review

All the books were pretty good this week. Isabella read The Water Hole, and two Skippyjon Jones books. We LOVED The Water Hole. It has beautiful pictures, with hidden animals that you have to find. Of course the Skippyjon books were good as usual.
Ethan read Scooby Doo and the Viscious Viking. He said it was good.
I read Artemis Fowl and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. They were both good books, and I would recommend them. I read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas first. I wont really say much because it will completely give away the ending. Although, you can pretty much figure out what happens a few chapters before the ending. I will tell you that the setting is a concentration camp in Poland, and it is told from the view of a 9 year old German boy. It was very easy reading, I read it in a day. Artemis Fowl was good as well. Artemis Fowl is more of a fantasy book, but set in modern times. It has fairies, gnomes, trolls, goblins...all the fantasy creatures. I didn't know much about this series going into it, and to be honest it was not what I was expecting. I will read the rest of the series, but I am not in a hurry. It was an easy read as well and I read it in a day and a half. I think next week I will try The Thirteenth Tale and the first in the Spiderwick Chronicles.
I really want Ethan to try other chapter books, like maybe the Series of Unfortunate Events books, or some other series. I loved reading as a kid and I really want to instill that in Ethan. So far he is not loving it as much as I hoped, he sees it as more of a chore. Anyone know of any really cool chapter books that a 7 1/2 year old boy would like? We need some ideas!
